During the 2023 calendar year, the China-Europe Rail "Chang'an" trains co-loaded and co-operated by China Express Logistics dispatched more than 800 trains in total, up roughly 30% year-on-year against 2022. Operating revenue inside the Xi'an International Port Area reached approximately 500 million yuan.
Eleven international corridors to the heart of Eurasia
The eleven international corridors currently operated under the "Chang'an" service cover the five Central Asian countries (Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan), Russia (Moscow and Saint Petersburg), Europe (Hamburg, Duisburg, Małaszewicze and Warsaw) and Ulaanbaatar in Mongolia. Outbound traffic is routed mainly through the four major border ports of Khorgos, Alashankou, Erenhot and Manzhouli.
Strategic interlock with CRE Rail
China Express Logistics works hand in glove with CRE Rail: CRE Rail handles overseas rail haulage and overseas road feedering, while China Express Logistics handles domestic customer development, cargo consolidation, customs clearance and border-port hand-over. With this "inside-China + overseas" division of labour, customers deal with a single window for the entire cross-border journey.
Transit-time and cost advantages
- Transit time: 60% faster than sea freight (Xi'an → Hamburg in 12–15 days vs 30+ days by sea)
- Cost: 70% cheaper than air freight — ideal for non-urgent but time-sensitive bulk cargo
- Best-fit commodities: equipment manufacturing, cross-border e-commerce batch goods, cold-chain agricultural products, chemical raw materials
