On 9 October 2025, China Express Logistics and Sinotrans Logistics North-West Co., Ltd. (part of China Merchants Group / Sinotrans) signed a second-phase strategic cooperation agreement at the Xi'an International Port Area. Building on the first phase signed in 2022, the new agreement upgrades the partnership from single-lane trunk coordination to deep three-way collaboration across trunk capacity, warehousing-and-distribution resources, and IT systems.
What the three-way collaboration covers
- Trunk capacity: both parties share core lane slots from Xi'an to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Chengdu and exchange backhauls, cutting total trunk cost by 15–18%.
- Warehousing and distribution: 134,000 m² of partner warehouses across Xi'an (strategic partners, not self-built) and Sinotrans' 50+ national warehousing nodes share live inventory visibility, allowing customers to trigger stock transfers with a single click in the system.
- IT systems: WMS and TMS interfaces between the two companies are now linked, so order status synchronises in real time between the customer, China Express Logistics and Sinotrans.
Why a state-owned partnership matters
Sinotrans is the central hub of the Sinotrans North-West system, ultimately backed by China Merchants Group, a century-old state-owned enterprise. For customers this means compliance, financial security and long-term stability all carry SOE-level endorsement. For China Express Logistics, it fills the eastern, southern and south-western coverage gaps of our north-west operational backbone by tapping directly into Sinotrans' existing network.
At the signing ceremony both sides committed to jointly serving supply-chain customers worth more than 3 billion yuan in combined revenue over the next three years, with a focus on procurement for central and state-owned enterprises, cross-border e-commerce, and the fire-safety and security sectors that offer long-term partnership potential.
