In February 2020, COVID-19 broke out without warning and Wuhan was placed under lockdown. Supplies were running short across the country.
China Express Logistics immediately formed a fleet of "counter-flow couriers" to take on the round-the-clock supply mission for the Wuhan front line, including protective clothing, medical equipment and daily-life essentials.

Over those critical 30 days and nights, China Express Logistics drivers stayed on the road non-stop, setting out from staging points in Shaanxi, the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and the Yangtze River Delta, racing along sealed-off expressways to Leishenshan Hospital and the makeshift Fangcang shelter hospitals in Wuhan.
It was the first time that China Express Logistics, as an enterprise, took full charge of a national-level emergency-relief logistics mission. CCTV, People's Daily, Xinhua News Agency and other central media all covered the operation.

China Express Logistics was later awarded the title of "Logistics Lifeline Guardian" and added to the emergency-logistics reserve enterprise register maintained by the Ministry of Civil Affairs and the Ministry of Emergency Management.
